You can now
have the convenience and speed that is available to you with credit
cards with checks over the phone. This product is called an "electronic
check" or an "e-check".
In 1999, President
Clinton passed a law regarding telephone payment using the ACH item.
A customer's call is cleared through the Federal Reserve and results
in a debit to their checking account and a credit to the account
of a vendor providing services or goods.
This service
also allows for the electronic recollection of NSF checks, so administration
is simple and easy.
Checks by phone
are electronic and no paper or signature is involved.
This service
will increase your sales by 10% - 20% because you will be able to
take orders from customers who cannot use a credit card but want
your product or service.

This is a great
sales tool.
It works with
credit cards and it can work with e-checks as well. Ask the same
questions in your script when creating offers. The only requirement
is you must ask 2 (two) questions, one for the approval of the immediate
e-check and a second approval for the subsequent e-checks, even
if there are more than one to come in the future.
Always remind
the customer that if they have any questions, they should call the
customer service line, which is usually answered by your fulfillment
center.
A good suggestion
that helps your customer is to insert in the bank memo line that
shows up on the customers bank statement a payment number so they
can be reminded of which payment has been made. Examples are:
Payment 2 of 3; Final PMT.

UP-SALES
You can now
use e-checks for up-sales. This is a great way to make extra profit
on the same call. How do you do it? Simply ask permission for either
a second e-check or a revised e-check amount. Either must be clearly
presented to the customer. We suggest a second e-check so there
is no confusion as many customers think you are giving the added
items away with the first order.
ON-LINE SALES
Many of customers
get 30% - 50% of their sales on-line.
Some even have
tested only driving calls to the web to save on call center changes.

e-check on-line? Yes.
E-checks on-line
are done in "one-off" or batch mode, similar to how call center
files are done.
You can connect
directly to a secure server and either process one item or a batch,
similar to how credit cards are done.
